Boy this year’s been a wild ride. It started out pretty okay and not too stressful, but doing those last 5 concentration pieces was not the most fun thing, especially since I only had 2 weeks. I feel like I’ve gotten much better with my prismacolor drawings from doing so many. I also noticed that I’ve started moving away from just drawing the picture, which is something that I’ve been struggling with for a while. The other tricky part of my concentration was not really having it all planned out from the beginning. I was usually one or two ideas ahead, but there were a few times that I just got stuck. My favorite pieces from my concentration would have to be the Seafarer one with the dock and sunset, and the one of my brother and I. My least favorite is the one of me and my mom, I love everything else about it but the faces are so cringey. All the other pieces I feel pretty good about, I tried a lot of new things this whole year, and while some worked better than others, most of it came out pretty okay.
I think I got really lucky that I have taken so many art classes in the past for my breadth, so I didn’t really struggle there. I think it’s funny how many self portraits I have just because I’ve done 1 or 2 per class, and it’s cool to see how much I’ve improved with drawing my face. It was also awesome to meet so many cool people, everyone was so unique but also crazy talented. It was also kind of neat to see where everyone cane from and how much we all improved over the year. This class was so much fun, even with the early mornings and occasional suffering. I really loved the support and constructive feedback from everyone, and the food didn’t exactly hurt either. It was also super interesting to do the show and experience what that was like. Thank you so much for such an amazing year Mrs. Rossi! Hopefully I’ll see you around :)
